Zala's 3rd Word

Zala started saying "mama" a few months ago and I believe has been saying "Ziga" recently as well. A few days ago, she learned "uh-oh". I think it's because she has a big brother :)

Funny Hair

Zala woke up with the cutest hair this morning--I just had to snap a few.

Playdate at Schoneman's

I took the kids over to Heather's (and Emily's, and Mark's) today for a playdate. The kids got along great, despite Ziga accidentally slamming the door on Emily's foot 2 minutes after we arrived. Zala put everything she could think of in her mouth and I am praying that nobody catches her annoying cold virus. We had a great time--thanks Heather for lunch and a great day!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a pretty low-key weekend. We went down to Pittsburg for the day on Saturday but since the kids were feeling pretty yucky we didn't spend the night. It was great to see everyone though! They napped most of the day on Sunday and today Janez came home from work and worked some more, on our pond. More on that later. Pain in the you-know-what.

Metal-detecting. Didn't find money, but did find a doorknob.

Busted!

Poor Janez and the never-ending Pond Project. Ziga did a great job supervising.

Our garden, that Janez planted 2 weeks ago, is already sprouting lettuce! And yes, that is an Elmo scarecrow against the fence. Janez's ability to think outside the box never ceases to amaze me!

Ziga's First Fishing Trip

Janez and the kids and I headed up to Parkville last night to pick Scott up and bring him back down south. For the next week or so, Scott will be held hostage in our home as Ziga monitors his every move. Apparently, 5 + months is too long to be separated from an uncle figure. Janez took the opportunity to take Ziga fishing at my Dad's yesterday--they had a great time, and Ziga finally touched a fish and helped throw one back in the pond.

Goofing around in the tunnel this morning

Ziga caught a lot of fish--and finally touched one!

Zala loved riding on Grandpa's shoulders...she also loved playing his head like a drum, pinching his ears and neck, and pretending that she was riding a horse.

Van Morrison....

.....is the new music of choice at our house! Here's a pic of Ziga & Zala "dancing" to "Brown-eyed Girl". Zala is crawling now--not exactly all over the place but if she really wants to get somewhere, like her mama's arms, she goes!

Zala's 10-month Studio Portrait Session

aka....makeshift studio in our guest bedroom. Finally, I got some slightly decent shots using natural light.
