4th of July

We had a great 4th of July! In the morning, our neighborhood had a little parade for the kids and a party at the park nearby after the parade. Ziga stuffed his face full of dessert and both kids took great naps. After naps we headed up to Lawrence and spent the evening with our friends Larisa and Eric, and their kids Gabe and Morgan. It was so fun! First the kids shot off some fireworks at Larisa & Eric's house. Whenever Zala gets old enough to throw snaps, she's going to love them. Eric helped Ziga run around with a sparkler, and he thought those and the tanks were great. Then, we headed to Watson Park to hear a little music and get some food. We had great weather and all the kids ran around and played, and were in general troopers and really hung in there until the fireworks started. I wasn't sure how Zala would do but she seemed to sense that it was worth staying up. She LOVED the fireworks and kept trying to reach for them and saying "this"! It was so cute. Ziga thought they were pretty great, too.
We didn't get home until after 11:00 (of course both kids fell asleep in the car). A great, great day.
